Composer Bio
Kailey Ceana (b. 2002) is a Gwinnett County, GA-based composer, arranger, violist, violinist, and teacher. Her life's musical influences range from gospel, classical, indie rock, soul, R&B, punk rock, hip-hop/rap, and more. She composes concert works for large and chamber ensembles and soloists, as well as underscoring music for film.
She has been commissioned by violist Amaro Dubois to arrange Ralph Vaughan William's Suite for Viola and Orchestra by for a small reduced string orchestra.
Kailey's works have been performed in Athens, GA; Dallas TX; Baton Rouge, LA; and New York, NY.
Kailey currently has a viola lesson studio in a Music & Arts store located in Snellville, GA. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books and upcycling/thrifting clothes.
Violist Bio
Kailey Ceana is a composer-violist who is based in Snellville, GA. At the age of 9 she was drawn to the violin because of its timbral versatility stretching from resounding classical and baroque tones to rustic sounds of blues and sauntering sounds of jazz.
As a teacher, Kailey intentionally reinvents ways to learn and teach viola technique. The tendency to reinvent some things is a character trait that reflects in her personality as well as in her playing and performance.
Kailey has performed under the baton of conductors such as Joann Falletta, Yue Bao, Damon Gupton, Ken Lam, Keith Lockhart, and David Greilsammer.
At the Brevard Music Festival, she has performed with big-name musicians such as Jeremy Denk, Tai Murray , and Wynton Marsalis. She has had the privilege of playing in the world premiere of "Of Time and Love," a Viola Concerto by Bright Sheng dedicated to Roberto Díaz (viola). She has also played with other orchestras on pop concerts featuring Judy Collins and The Indigo Girls.
Kailey has studied viola with Maggie Snyder at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music (University of Georgia) and Celeste Myall and Sam Lee (Lagrange College).
